fear: how fear affects your physiology, biomechanisms, & energy in birth

Childbirth

May 6, 2025

an overview

Fear in birth is often misunderstood—treated as something to manage or overcome.
But not all fear is the same, and not all of it is misplaced.
Fear moves through birth in distinct ways—physiological, psychological, and instinctual.
When these are not differentiated, women are often taught to override signals that are actually protective or informative.
When you begin to see its different dimensions, your relationship to it changes entirely.
